THE PROJECT
Red Star have provided animation services to Magic Light Pictures for their production of this 30 minute Christmas Special to be screened on BBC1 on Christmas Day 2023. Based on the beloved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler the film features the voices of Sope Dirisu and Rob Brydon and is narrated by Jodie Whittaker.
Red Star created all the film’s visuals, working from the storyboard animatic developed by Magic Light and overseen by the film’s directors Jac Hamman and Sarah Scrimgeour. Red Star assembled a team of over 45 artists and animators to create the film, all working in a stop-motion style to painstakingly match the hand-crafted appearance of previous Magic Light specials.
