Red Star produces fantastic animated content for feature films, TV and visitor attractions. Founded in 2004 by Ben Smith and Jan Rogowski, Red Star offers script-to-screen production of exciting and engaging stories for family audiences from their UK-based Sheffield animation studio.
The studio’s work includes feature film STARDOG AND TURBOCAT, the BAFTA-longlisted Terry Pratchett movie THE AMAZING MAURICE, Emmy Winning BBC1 special TABBY McTAT and the forthcoming TIDDLER for Magic Light Pictures.

MEET THE TEAM

BEN SMITH
Ben has 25 years of experience in animation and co-founded Red Star in 2004. As company director he works with clients to budget productions and manage business affairs. He also oversees development and financing of future projects; as well as writing and directing animated films.

HARIS AHMAD
Haris joined Red Star in 2008 and is now CG Supervisor, combining his artistic skills in cinematography and production lighting with an understand of the technical aspects of modern CGI production. Haris is also a regular contributor to and co-director of Red Star’s films.

JEROME BOUTROUX
A graduate of the Animation Mentor school, Jerome’s past credits include GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and PADDINGTON. At Red Star Jerome oversees the animation team that perform all shot layout and character animation across the full slate of productions.

SOPHIE VICKERS
Sophie Vickers graduated from Bournemouth University and is now Character Supervisor, coordinating the character modeling and rigging pipeline across all Red Star’s projects.
